FROSTBIT recently participated in La Fabrique Deep Tech, a flagship event for the French innovation ecosystem held at the MAME center in Tours. Representing the project’s scientific core, researcher Guillaume F. Nataf presented a poster detailing our advancements in dynamic heat flow control.

At the heart of the FROSTBIT project is the development of functional oxide materials designed to revolutionize how we manage thermal energy. Unlike traditional systems, our technology leverages the unique properties of ferroic materials to manipulate heat flow at the microscopic level.
During the poster session, Guillaume F. Nataf engaged with researchers and industry leaders to discuss:
-
Active Heat Switching: The ability to “toggle” thermal conductivity using external fields.
-
Sustainability: How solid-state cooling can eliminate the need for greenhouse gases used in traditional refrigeration.
-
Scalability: Translating fundamental materials science into industrial-grade thermal solutions.
The event provided a strategic platform to align FROSTBIT’s R&D roadmap with the broader European deep tech landscape. A highlight of the day was the keynote by Michiel Scheffer, President of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Board, which underscored the critical need for “hard tech” innovations to ensure European technological sovereignty.
Participation in La Fabrique Deep Tech allowed the FROSTBIT team to:
-
Strengthen Investor Relations: Showcasing the project’s technical de-risking to deep tech-focused venture capitalists.
-
Foster Regional Synergy: Deepening connections within the Region Centre-Val de Loire, a growing hub for advanced materials and electronics.
-
Collaborative Knowledge Exchange: Discussing integration challenges with potential industrial partners and spin-out peers.
The positive reception of our research in Tours reinforces FROSTBIT’s position as a key player in the next generation of thermal management. As we move forward, the insights gained from this event will help refine our path from the laboratory to market application.
